Tiny little led sign illumination modules that operate directly at 220 to 240 volts to provide illumination and signage. But how do they do that? How do they drive three leds in these modules from 220 or 240 volts? Well, the answer is the ac gets rectified to dc. There's a linear current regulator and then they use three high voltage leds and two resistors in series to create the circuit that allows the leds to run on that high voltage.     I've got a similar set from when I was a facilities supervisor for a mall a decade or so ago. The ones I have come with what's basically a ballist (driver) box like you would see with fluorescent lights. Had them all this time and I'm just now working on a project to use them.

    A rectifier with two resistors in series definitely would do the trick. Only if using high voltage LED's obviously LOL. But what if they only used two LEDs and only one rectifier would that still work?
