My brother has a Bradley smoker for smoking food, and asked if I could check it out as the unit that feeds in the fuel pellets was running continuously. It was the perfect opportunity to have a good look inside.
I'm using a different recording device at the moment, so please feel free to let me know how it sounds. I'm definitely going to have to nudge the exposure down. I'll also be trying the built in microphone soon as it will remove a lot of the boominess from my voice. Note that the smoker unit is much larger than the items I normally have on my bench, so there will be a lot of shadow caused by its size.
If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies and random gadgets for disassembly at:-

This is an old vid I know but…. and idea what would cause one of those not to feed at all ? Mine seems mechanically fine but doesn't feed. Heats but doesn't feed. Mechanics I can do, 'tronicks are beyond me 🙂
The ubiquitous stuck-button issue. Mine had that. Newer versions of the smoke generator changed the switch to a different one (it's round) with more clearance between the button and inner diameter of the switch body.
The plate that gets hot isn't a pre-heater. The transfer device moves pucks to that spot and they sit there for 20 minutes and smolders thereby generating the smoke. After 20 minutes, that timer circuit trips the motor to slide a new puck into place and the new one pushes the dead one into a pan of water to extinguish it. This ensures the tar and tannin's in the wood don't burn and impart a bad flavor into the food.
The pucks are expensive, the cabinet doesn't get hot enough (without doing a 3rd party upgrade on the 500w heater element in the bottom of the smoker cabinet), but the food it produces is very good because the smoke is very thin and clean, not thick and billowy.
I know this was a few years ago but I hope your brother paid you back for fixing his spendy smoker with some delicious smoked meat!!
in my opinion…
I just glued a pin to the red button so I could pull it out when it git stuck in.
But what is it? What's it for?
Thank you for posting this! Saved me from purchasing a $100 replacement unit
I wanted to see it working at the end, with the working button… Poor show Clive! >.<
Clive, what is your brother smoking with this?? I build smokers and thoroughly enjoy the delight that is smoked meats. So, anytime I see one, I ask.
When I did and go to heaven I am buying the house next door to you LOL
FUUULL BRIDG REKTIFAIAAH!
Before the video starts, I'm gonna go ahead and guess the stupid 'advance' button is stuck, because Bradley doesn't know how to cut a hole big enough for a switch to go into without pinching.
I have been subbed since 15k. Keep going. The recording device you are using in this video is great. Your vids are great.
The audio is fine…why so many complaints?
It's not like it's an expensive TV documentary with a person doing sound only.
In fact many of those so called professional programs have very annoying background music to add to the dramatic effect.
I much prefer Clive's excellent use of English (I'm sure he would say Scottish) language!
