I was expecting this to be a very simple and cheap design, but it's actually quite complicated and clever. It's very clear that the design has evolved and uses standardised materials to allow a wide range of lights to be made quickly and easily.
There's still the issue of no proper grounding/earthing connection, and the LED driver is the classic minimalist type with low efficiency and zero protection or filtering. But the base components are pretty good and hint at a possibility of adaptation to suit other applications.
It was one of those pleasing imported lights that throws up lots of genuinely pleasing surprises.
Here's an eBay starter link for this type of light:-

This also keeps the channel independent of YouTube's advertising algorithms allowing it to be a bit more dangerous and naughty.

I hacked one of these glowlights that contain neon. It got so dim because of glass blackening that it no longer made any light so I put an Led in its place just in series with the 130k resistor that came with it.
Is that glass?
One of these times, you'll put your finger across one of those capacitors, and it'll be fully charged. 😁
that's it, I'm buying 30 of these and wiring in my own RGB strips lol
the entire time while watching this video, i was thinking an rgb strip would be amazing
Midget power supply? They prefer little people power supply!
That thing makes me want a nightlight that is literally a gigantic SMD LED for some reason.
We usually spend 1/2 of our year living in a 36 foot RV, this would make a great hall light for the unit, as well as added light for the operations center, well the drivers compartment which could always use a bit of extra light when you are consulting maps at night. I could find dozens of places to mount such a light, they would make a great replacement for the cargo lights inside the undercarraige storage compartments. I will have to keep an eye on these for future use, should I ever get back on the road. Recent family deaths and illnesses have grounded us for a year but once the estates are settled, I am in hopes to get some miles on my rig once more; perhaps with a few of these lights added.
I’ve just bought two of the bigger ones, identical except it’s five parallel sets in series and 15v. I wanted to run them on 9v, so now I’m going to have to split them into two groups of two and put current-limiting resistors in. I should have known really from the higher power rating!
Great video , where can I put your mains connector box ?
Strip looks thinner than the LED strips I'm used to seeing
Please do some USB type c stuff. It's the future
It looks like a large version of an SMD resistor, I want a reel of them
This lamp looks nice for DIY. I'm going to put a WS2812 light strip in it, together with a ESP8266 as a notification lamp for doorbell, phone and email.
How would you connect a single LED to a 240v power source.. would you use a 56K resistor in series ??
Can someone please tell me the manufacturer of the power supply he was using in this video as well as the name associated with this product.
The LED vids are my fav.
