Well of course we can. Here's how to do it.
Note the "15 year life" is based on 2.7 hours a day, so actually 15,000 hour life, or more likely until you lose the receipt. But with this hack 15 actual years is possible, as it reduces the LED power dissipation and therefore heat significantly. Intensity will be slightly lower, but still very acceptable.
Very typical design, suggesting a "name brand" being applied to a generic lamp. But sensible and familiar circuitry that is easy to tweak.

This looks like an Ikea lamp

I don't know but even at ~1400 lumens that is not bright enough for me. I like everything bright like the sun.

"Lamp manufacturers HATE this little trick!"

Well, Clive, the clickbait on the thumb view worked. Good job.

There's kind of a later-day Phoebus cartel going on with modern LED lamps, it seems.

I recently had a new light installed and of course pulled the LED light bulb.
It has a 3 way switch on the side to change the colour temperature from bright white to the yellowish normal light bulb colour and one other I can't think of right now.
Can you possibly get hold of one of these and break it down to show how it's done?
Many thanks for your very interesting videos and the reverse engineering explanation of the circuit.

I once heard an interview with an ER nurse about people who insert strange objects, but the best story was the bloke who had the weight lifting weight stuck on his old fella.

I learned we don’t call them bulb’s anymore.

The UK government got us to use all these led bulbs to save power LED bulbs now averaging 15W from the normal 100w filament type bulbs as with tvs from 450w to LED 100w TVs yet all our electricity is multiplied 10 times so we are saving the private distributors money and they are charging us more
    GREAT

That thumbnail gave me a good laugh. Don't stop Clive, you'll get your comedian diploma soon!

If you want to get into a glass bulb in a controlled fashion, use a triangular file to score around the base, heat it with a lighter or candle, and then touch an ice cube to it.

Also good for turning old-school glass soda bottles into candles.

Great job on the thumbnail. Baited my click.
