After discovering that the capacitors in a "vehicle performance enhancer" were fake (real caps, just dry with no electrolyte) it was suggested that I could add some electrolyte to see what happened.
I'm not sure what the official recipe is, but some early electrolytes were based on ethylene glycol and boric acid. I made some up and then dunked the capacitor in it...

If you had just looked up why antifreeze is poisonous to cats, it's because they find its sweet taste attractive but it destroys the kidneys been extremely lethal. So people please be careful disposing of ethylene glycol antifreeze where there are animals , but once again Big Clive takes a taste test in the name of science so we don't have to. (Wow this just got recommend after 3 years YT algo works in mysterious ways)

Worked for a company out if Taiwan that manufactured motherboards in the 90s … eventually we setup a plant on mainland China in the free zone near HK …

We found that a manager was swapping out good parts for defective ones – not enough to 'break' the board, but which caused failures over time … e.g. we used keyboard fuses on DIN connectors – they look like resistors painted light green… turns out he made a penny a shot by swapping then out for fake ones and selling the real ones.

We realized it when kybd bios started popping … old 5pin DIN keyboards didn't like being pulled out hot…

For reference, we made an average of 150K boards a month …

Antifreeze is sweet. That’s why you keep it away from away from pets/animals. Because it’s sweet, they are inclined to drink it, killing them.

"It's just sort of considered toxic…..I've never actually tasted it……Let's taste it!"

    I absolutely loved that progression!
