Yet another street light to take to bits. This time it's the bigger brother of the last one, with double the LED power and beam shaping lenses.
This light was donated for teardown by www.banggood.com and you can find it listed here:- http://bit.ly/1HVMS8B
There are a lot of things I like about this light. It has a good robust case with a glass front and thick seal. The LEDs are plain 1W beads on a well spread out mounting panel with plenty of heatsink compound between it and a chunky finned exterior heatsink. The temperature on the heatsink only rose about 20C above ambient, which is very good. The LEDs are also driven in a continuous series string at 300mA, which is preferable to the series/parallel arrays of the multi-chip array LEDs as it ensures that each LED is run at 300mA.
The lenses shape the light from a general wash into a long wide beam that is designed to illuminate roads or paths. If desired the lenses can be removed to give a wash of light. The central intensity with and without the lenses was comparable, with just a different beam shape.

Motion sensor strobe , and puke vertigo , prison guard light . . stay indoors. Curfew violator .!
I know that I'm a bit late viewing this video, but the one thing that I've taken away from this, is that one Positively HAS to wipe ones hands after a particularly sticky gooey screw….👍🤣
That red screwdriver my dad gave me a load of tools years ago one very similar was included a flathead unfortunately he reckons it has to be 40yrs plus it was bought before i was born 80.
What lamp is that?
Is there anywhere You can buy replacement parts for these IP65 light's. My LEDs went out on two of my lights.
Luv the channel
Pretty sure you would replace the cable with one long enough to go down the inside of the lamppost to ground level. If you did this before installation, all you would have to do at the top of a ladder is to feed the cable down the post and tighten the clamps. Not sure I would want to be fiddling with connectors or lenses at 5 to 10 metres above ground!
The Lens make a big difference. like the Funnel effect plastic reflection panels on them LED strips. which are on LED lights for off road Motors.
they get so hot that the filament in yellow casing lifts up and creates a flicker, but if you press yellow compound down with finger the LED comes back to life. Encapsulations of theses new LED are poor
His wife bought him a Rolex for Christmas and he promptly "took it to bits"
