A common potato has two copper electrodes shoved into it and is then connected directly to a 240V 50Hz mains supply with a clamp-meter to monitor the current.
I searched Youtube for a video of a potato being zapped in this way, and there wasn't one. So there is now. This video has been brought to you by www.bigclive.com

Not quite your typical Arran Pilot! They're a very hardy, Scottish potato ๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿ’จโšก๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒ‹!

Now then, and seriously now. Would it be possible to capacitively couple a humble spud across the mains? So that you could pass a current through it, in a non-invasive way. I'm thinking, cup shaped metal electrodes either end, or side, of the spud, very close, but not in physical contact with it. Is that possible?

Or maybe 'tis more in the domain of Photonic Induction's channel, where he could apply ludicrous kV in the "safety" of his own living room?

Oh, a "fusible, inrush limiting potato". The newest generation of electronic components. How delightful electrifying.
PS.: did Clive ever tried to make an electric fondues? Electrically charged/charred cheese… Mmmm

Fascinating. It's not everyday we get to see the humane execution of a potato.
