LED filament lamps have just taken a bizarre and wonderful direction with this new style based on a chunky square glass substrate with an array of LEDs along each edge.
Initially I thought this was just a plastic housing with four standard filaments in it, but in reality it's a completely new style and use of the technology.
Here's the Aliexpress listing link. Make sure you order the 12W one as the others may be ordinary LED lamps.

I wonder how many watts are lost in the driver?
And after around 6 years and 8 months of impeccable service, the first one of these lamps failed. Let's see how long the other ones are going to last.
Hi Clive , I could not find these light bulbs with your Aliexpress link. Just couldn't find it anywhere ! Is it possible to screenshot the Aliexpress page that you ordered it from ? Thanks mate, love your tear down videos .
May I suggest using a heat gun in the future?
JFYI Now started to flash / fail one in June and then another in December 2021 one was used every day a Landing light – the other a few times per week.

If I find time I will see if they can be repaired / or find out if it is just one of the 4 segments in the square glass.
I did like them and they were bright enough, my wife prefers the soft warm white.
Really expected to see some claret deployed during the dismembering. Not unhappy to miss out.
Just like the tearing down, Clive bleeds sometimes so we don't have to
HA i still have mine sitting in the drawer of leds
That's kind of amusing that they don't deliver to the Isle of Man, but have no issues delivering to South Africa which has a reputation for parcels going "Missing" mysteriously, and if they don't go missing, you eventually get the item 9 months after the purchase.
I bought 2 smart phones in June one year and they arrived end of March the next year, no fault of AlliExpress, but just the hourendous lack of knowledge and laziness of our Revenue service.
The parcel landed a week after the order but the tracking showed that the flight was physically "Airborne" for the following 8 months and 3 weeks (awesome fuel economy), but was in fact at our utterly useless customs service for the duration.
Our postal service is useless too, but once released from customs and excise, it took the postal service only 3 weeks to notify me its available for collection, which was quite the record 🤣
I just clicked the link, but unfortunately I saw the following "Sorry, the page you requested can not be found:("
Big Clive 2016: "oooohh thats really tight"
Has anyone ever heard of the general electric classic shape led bulb the bulb is entirely made out of glass just like an incandescent but instead of it having led filaments it has a SMD tower with LEDs in it but because the bulb has that white frost that you see on most light bulbs it's really hard to see the inside of the bulb luckily since I have some of these bulbs one of them broke and I was able to see the inside of it and what I just explained is what was in the bulb.
I tried to write with a Sharpei once and got dog shit everywhere!
Anyone else who bought these at the start of 2016 finding that they're all starting to fail now? Looks like the PSU is still good, but I've had two of them lose half of the LEDs, so that there's just a V shape rather than a square of LEDs (and half the output).
