I stumbled on this wall mounting light while looking for LED street lights. While it's not really suited to actual street lighting, it's a reasonable enough panel for short-throw home use, or for low level path illumination. Especially in an area that gets a lot of sunshine on a regular basis.
This one came complete with a faulty LED. Notably one of two that looked as though they had been hand soldered.
The schematic is simple. No PIR sensors, it just comes on all night when it's dark and recharges the lithium cell during the day.
You can find these on ebay with the keywords led solar sensor street light http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.A0.H0.Xled+solar+sensor+street+light.TRS4&_nkw=led+solar+sensor+street+light&_sacat=0

Q.A. isnt a thing at that company… ๐ฌ
Transistor (a BIG FAT one!)
You may want to shorten the word Protect in a different way ๐ prot means fart in Flemish
Sooo the game started and NOBODY told me. Thanks!!!!:p
So I hit the ebay search link up there in the description out of curiosity, and saw a bunch of stuff with varying prices, most of it much bigger (some claiming hundreds of watts!). I then told ebay that I wanted to see stuff listed with lowest price+shipping first, and what showed up was a couple of them for $0.01, with free shipping. So I put in a bid on one. We'll see where that goes… ๐
Well I have these lights for a while and funny enough one/two stopped working an came across ur vid, and I am a total newb at electronics and managed to fix them.. so thanks for the vid..
I have no idea why this type of product is defined as a "street light".
This is NOT a street light. Look at the size of this people! The solar
panel is tiny, the battery is tiny, the LED power is tiny. The
illumination time is minimal based on the fact the battery is so small.
The battery is so small because the solar panel is so small. It will not
light up all night long. A real street light will. It has to use a
motion sensor to either turn the light on or make it brighter (from its
dim mode). A real street light does not do that and this has to do that
because the battery and solar panel is so small. Let's not forget the
most important problem these all-in-one fixtures all have. The solar
panel should face directly south and in the USA it would be set at about
a 35-60 degree angle. This does not allow for that and sits almost dead
flat (0 degrees). So it will never in a million years be reliable or
effective or replace a real solar street light. Good luck trying to
replace the battery when it needs it and that's if you can get inside
the thing. These so called all-in-one solar street lights are all made
in China and are all hugely limited in capabilities. Most are made with
the lowest quality parts, battery and LEDs. The paint will flake off and
the metal will rust along with all its mounting hardware. You get what
you pay for. Warranty? Forget it! My advice, speak with a real USA based
solar street light supplier or manufacturer if you want REAL solar
street lights. I mean a real company, bricks and mortar, Better Business
Bureau A+ RATED, not just some internet reseller, drop-shipper or Made
in China importer. There are several good USA based companies that offer
the real deal. A company that makes a "real" solar lighting system with
components that are built to last and with a proper warranty. This
Chinese all-in-one junk is useless and won't last 5 minutes even if you
did find a use for it. A fool and their money is easily parted. This is
nothing more than a motion sensor security light to fix above you back
porch. Not a "street light" by any definition.
I love my Iso-Tip!
My big Clive shot phrase is โa modest amountโ
i have similar circuit mini solar light ..but there is zener 4.1v paraller with solar panel
I had no idea there was a big clive drinking game!
Others add an IR sensor and it doesnt run when no one's around
Hi Clive just thought when you did the schematic on this lamp you did not explain the position of the off switch and if it charges up when switched off
My personal opinion on these: If you're gonna get a street light to light your garden with… be a badass and get yourself a Thorn Beta Five or an Indal 2600 and sling that on your wall. Need more light? Get a Philips SGS252 or an Indal Arc 80/90 geared for150w SON/CPO-T.
